Royal Camu (Light) is kept deep frozen until the moment it is needed for market. It is then thawed and liquefied and spray dried onto maltodextrine in order to preserve its precious natural Vitamin C complex in the fruit.
Royal Camu (Dark) is prepared in an entirely different way. It is grown near its processing plant and is immediately oven dried for almost a day after picking with only the seeds removed. Some companies offering this type of dark, bitter Camu-Camu make false claims about their product. They either claim that it has not gone through an oven heating process – that it is sundried only. These companies don’t tell you that the heaviest part of the Camu-Camu fruit, once the water is removed are the seeds, followed by the skin. The actual Camu-Camu pulp is 93% water.
