New Products as We Approach a New Year
Where has the year gone? I bet you are asking the same thing. Time has
definitely sped up on us as we are bombarded with so many different means
of communication. Life is definitely more exciting this way, but we need
periods of total withdrawal from all the stimulation as well. It's part
of keeping healthy. So enjoy the fellowship and the generosity of the
holidays but may Peace and Silence be with you also.
This has been a fruitful year for Whole World Botanicals. We have developed
a number of new products in 2002, including two liquid extracts –

When to Take a Break From Royal Maca
Some of you have sent emails asking if you could take a shorter break
than two to four weeks from the Royal Maca, and the answer is YES. For
many women it works better to take Royal Maca either six days a week or
even five days a week and never take a longer break.
Other women -- who have been able to bring severe and almost constant
hot flashes and night sweats under control -- dare not even take a break
for one day. Not to worry. In six months to a year and a half, these severe
disturbances will probably subside on their own and you can start taking
short breaks at that point.
For the men, some of them also do best on just two caps to four caps
a day with a break once a week. Others prefer a slightly larger dose just
two or three times a week. To a large extent, you can let your body be
your guide. After all, you are taking a therapeutic food supplement --
not a medicine.

hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and mentioned maca as a safe and effective

7th, CNN en Español ran a related story, which also sent folks
to the Whole World Botanicals website to get more information about maca.

to a Children's Communal Dining Room

I am so very pleased to let you know that
your support of our company by purchasing our herbal products has
allowed us to donate half a ton of dried maca roots to a communal
kitchen in an impoverished community in the poorest Department (State)
of Peru, Huancavalica. The maca roots will be cooked (after being
softened overnight and boiled for several hours) in the oatmeal, which
is served in the morning to the children (and some adults) who regularly
eat in the communal kitchen. |
University studies conducted in Peru have demonstrated the value of maca
to malnourished children, including children with anemia. The Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations in the early 1990's endorsed the use
of maca as a particularly nutritious food which could be used to fight malnutrition.
Malnutrition is rampant in this village, especially among children, teenagers,
and young adults. People in the village have very little cash income because
there is no road that connects directly to the village. You have to walk
into the village and it is difficult to transport crops grown for cash in
the area surrounding theh village to market.
There is now a non-profit organization working there to help the village
in many ways. In addition to the communal dining room, which was set up,
there are projects to teach people how to eat in a more healthy way. Many
young people had to leave their village and farming to seek seasonal work,
and became used to a diet based on white bread, white rice, white sugar,
white pasta, and coffee. Their health declined significantly and they
took back their bad habits to their village, spending what little money
they earned on these expensive "staples" and shunning the vegetables
and legumes, which were part of their traditional diet. Only the old people
continued to eat this traditional diet and they were looked down on as
"country," and not sophisticated.
As a result of this poor diet, the disease rate is rampant, and money
needed for education and transportation goes for the "trendy"
