|
November
Newsletter, Part I Greetings to dear old friends and our New Friends of
Herbs: Where has
the year gone? In the northeast, we have had a “soft fall” with mostly
warmish temperatures and gentle long rains. The fall foliage has been
outrageous. There is so much to catch you upon, I have divided the newsletter
into, Part I, which you received today and Part II which you will be
receiving next week. If you
are looking for affordable Green gifts that express your values &
provide both health benefits & immediate pleasure to the recipient,
you may want to consider giving Whole World Botanicals herbal products and an Organic, Fair Traded Chocolate bar
to some of your friends and family
members. These gifts are suitable for the person who already has “everything” and
for the person who lacks what you and I would call “the basics.” We have paired our Certified Organic, Fair Traded Royal Maca products (including our newest Royal Maca products—see below) and our Wildcrafted Royal Camu products – or any other Whole World Botanicals’ herbal products you wish – with a Fair Traded, Certified Organic Chocolate Bar. You may choose either the coconut curry milk chocolate (to die for!!!) flavor or dark chocolate brittle (a delicious & healthy treat). (Other WWB products are also available as gift options.)

one of the organic maca growing community partners of Whole World
Botanicals together with Dr. Viana Muller, Co-founder of WWB, at the Tenth
Anniversary Celebration of our Partnership (Nov. 2005). Whole World
Botanicals practices Fair Trade with the maca-growing communities and has
begun a solar energy project to assist in making available low cost
solar cookers and solar home heating panels to these communities. The
communities, which also herd animals, are located at 14,000 ft. above
sea level in the high Andes of Peru where it is cold year round. At
present, most of the families cook on open hearths with no chimneys
inside their homes and have no other source of heat. Camu Gift
Card Caption: Photo (March, 2006) of children of
one of the Camu-Camu collector families who live in the riverine communities
on a tributary of the Amazon River in northeast Peru, with Dr. Viana Muller,
Co-founder of Whole World Botanicals, who interviewed the Apu (traditional
community head) about the needs of their communities. They told her “We have so many children. We
don’t have the money to buy the notebooks which our children need” WWB has begun a project called Selva
Sostenible (Sustainable Rainforest) to make school notebooks available at one
fifth the cost which they are now paying.
Our goal is to enable all of the children of these Camu-Camu
collectors to attend school. Major effort this year has
gone into developing new highly effective herbal products to support your
health. Our two newest products have
DIM (diindolylmethane) combined with Maca, and address hormonal issues in two
complementary ways:
Royal Maca Plus for Women with DIM provides all of
the benefits of the regular Royal Maca plus greatly reduces the risk for
breast cancer and other estrogen-dependent cancers. Since Yours Truly is a
post-breast-cancer thriver, these new products have special personal
importance to me. Super Royal Maca for Men with DIM provides all of the splendid benefits of Royal Maca for Men plus the DIM in this unique product reduces the risk for prostate enlargement
and prostate cancer in men. These
products were introduced on our website shopping cart two weeks ago without
fanfare yet they began to sell immediately (It appears that wives are buying
the men’s product for their husbands.) In the November Newsletter – Part II,
which will be sent out next week, we will provide you with the science behind
these claims and explain how and why these products really work. Nutritional
Support for People with Diabetes: Since
there is such an epidemic of Type 2 Diabetes, we are always seeking ways to
help people support their pancreatic function naturally. Feedback from a Practitioner on Royal Abuta Plus and Royal Break-Stone I keep
telling you, I learn as much about how Whole World Botanicals herbal products
work from customer feedback as I do from the scientific studies. It is very
helpful when the health care professionals provide feedback on their use of
Whole World Botanicals herbal products with their patients. As you know
modern clinical herbalism is in its infancy. As an increasing number of
people turn to herbs to support their health, our knowledge base of their
benefits to the body keeps expanding. Recently
a health care practitioner from the Caribbean (an area still very friendly to
herbalism) gave us an interesting perspective on the difference in how he
treats people with borderline type 2 diabetes and people whose Type 2
diabetes has advanced so far that their doctors have put them on insulin. These practitioner clinical cases are
shared with you for educational purposes only. If you have diabetes, it is
important that you be under doctor’s care and be monitored regularly. Dr. T
told us that he uses Royal Break-Stone
Tea, capsules or liquid extract, for his patients with borderline high
blood sugar – such as, 140. He gave us the example of a family with 5
sisters. They range in age from late 30’s to mid-40’s and they all had high
blood sugar (Type 2 diabetes) when they began to consult him. Two sisters
were on insulin, two were on glucophage (pills) and one was borderline high
(140 at her highest level) and wasn’t on any medication. He put
the sisters who were not on insulin on the Royal Break-Stone, 3 servings a day away from food, until their
blood sugar was normal (it took about 2 months). Then he cut them back to a
maintenance dose of 2 servings a day, 6 days a week which they have followed for
the past year and a half. They their blood sugar levels frequently and they
continue to show up in normal range. The older
two sisters, who were on insulin, were started at two capsules of Royal Abuta Plus™, 3 times a day,
with food. They followed this regimen, gradually reducing their insulin
(under theirs doctor’s care and supervision), until they were able to go off
of insulin (about 6 months). Then he gradually reduced their dosage of Royal Abuta Plus until it was one
capsule 3 times a day (with food). This is their maintenance dosage. Dr. T
stresses that the optimal dosage & maintenance dosage is different for
each person. He cautions against
stopping medication, except under medical supervision and your doctor’s
consent. Whole
