Nutritional evaluation of the effects of Maca in albino mice and their offspring.

In this study the nutritional capacity of maca was studied in two generations of mice. The parents of the first generation were assigned to three groups: The three different feeding regimens consisted of commercial mouse food only (control group – GROUP 1), RAW maca only (Group 2), and precooked maca only (Group 3).
RESULTS- The RAW Maca mice group (Group 2) had the lowest average birth weight and the slowest average growth rate in their offspring, this was even more pronounced in the second generation.
- Commercial mouse food only group (Group 1) had a higher average birth weight and faster average growth rate in their offspring than the RAW Maca group.
- COOKED Maca group (Group 3) had the highest average birth weight and fastest average growth rate of all the 3 groups. This was even more pronounced in the second generation.
