Hi Eleanor!

I have been using raw maca for a couple of years - with good results but minor digestive discomfort. However, I heard that heating it could make it more effective so I tried to roast some of my raw powder at a low heat until it turned golden brown. It seemed to work: I could have more without any discomfort and felt even more benefits from it. Perhaps this could be something for you to try with yours?

:-)

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who truly knows what theyre speaking about on the internet. You definitely know how you can convey a difficulty to mild and make it important. More individuals have to learn this and understand this facet of the story. I cant imagine youre no more in style since you definitely have the gift.

I am a 62 year woman who started taking raw Maca powder a couple of months ago-usually just 1/4 teaspoon in my smoothie in the morning. Haven't noticed any great shift but thought I'd continue, thinking it might help my thyroid which has always been in the low range but never been treated-also for fatigue, low libido, stress etc. Anyway, 2 weeks ago, I was going for a walk, and having forgotten to take the maca in the am, decided to mix 1 whole teaspoon in with my tea. I drank it down, took a kind of strenuous walk(for me)and was so sick when I arrived back home, I had to cancel dinner plans. my stomach felt as if it had been burned and I felt terrible abdominal pains, not unlike those of a gall bladder attack(mine removed tears ago). i immediately stopped taking maca(and all my supplements actually)but the pain continued variously through the week- to the point where I had to go to the ER a few days later.Nothing showed up on blood tests, and a little weird something on my jejunum, but nothing pinpointing this pain. Trying to figure this out myself- I came upon a few sites similar to this where raw maca was not recommended to be taken. Of course, this may have nothing to w/ my maca intake at all, but for future reference- is it possible that the raw powder could create such abdominal distress? And if so, does that indicate that I may be sensitive to ANY form of maca? I did not notice any discomfort taking the smaller amount in my shakes but am terrified to use any form now lest the discomfort is exacerbated. Thanks for your site.

My husband was diagnosed with 2 kidney stones + 1 in ureter. He has been taking 2/500mg capsules of another brand twice a day. The last ultrasound showed only 1 stone in kidney! I read the liquid is much better & just received bottle in the mail. However I've been searching unsuccessfully to find equivalent of 1 ml of Royal Break-Stone to capsule mg. I assume it could be 1 ml=1,ooo mg? That is important enough that it should be on the bottle. Thanks, Barbara

Thank you for your email.
I am having numerous concerns. I am a 53 year healthy 140 lb. Women. I had a partial, (Uterus only) Hysterectomy In Jan, 2008 due to problematic bleeding from Fibroids.
Had a quick no problem recovery. 1 year following surgery Hot Flasher, nights sweats, no sleep all that. I had tried Royal Maca umongst other natural supplements such as Estotone by New Chapter. I thought it worked for a while and then I was back and forth with my symptoms and mood etc.
I went on Bi-Est Bioidentical Hormones with Testosterone in November 2010.
My Hot Flashes were gone within 8 days and I was sleeping, my Libido returned etc.
I have still been taking Maca in the morning a small amount say 1/2 tsp. and I feel that it is a great product also incresing my libido. Which was completely gone.

But the problem I have that makes NO SENSE.
I REALLY REALLY need help trying to figure out why I have a very offensive odor. I can not figure out where it originates from and it appears to come through my pores or breath, like from the gut. I thought it was the probiotics, I slowed down on those and it did not really make a difference. I have a very healthy life style and I am very clean. I have regular bowel movements (usually a couple of times a day). It is not an odor from my under arms, vaginal area, feet or anything like that. This has been going on for a year now. I noticed it when I first started to have my Hot Flashes. It seems to come through me more when I am Hot or when I drink green tea. ??. This started about a year after the Hysterectomy and I don't know what to do. I took a blood test in November when all levels revealed I was in menopause. Today maybe I am through it I am not sure.

Would I still contiune with Maca as I get older?

Do you feel there would be any problem taking the Maca now or do I not need it?

I had some gallbladder issues, maybe it is this?? The odor smells like, well, poop coming through my pores.

Please get back to me ASAP!
I am uninsured and have been spending money with Drs. that have no answer and I am lost as to what to do.

Have you ever heard of anything like this with the odor?

It is ruining my personal and professional life and relationships.
Please Help!
