Q: Does Maca only work for perimenopausal women?

Royal Maca All

My hot flashes went away completely. Now that I am considered “postmenopausal” – it’s been more than a year since I had my last period, it no longer seems to be working. I have started to get terrible hot flashes again. Does this product only work for perimenopausal women who are still producing estrogen in their bodies? I’m getting a little desperate!

A: I’m so glad you wrote! Royal Maca Plus with DIM and regular Royal Maca Capsules and Powder are great for the overwhelming majority of women who are postmenopausal. It’s a question of dosage. (And by the way, postmenopausal women continue to produce some estrogen through their entire lifetime.)

Three capsules of Royal Maca a day is not enough – that’s about a half a teaspoon—for many postmenopausal women. Six capsules a day, or one teaspoon daily, is an average dose. And if a woman has “terrible hot flashes” as you say you have and if they are frequent, she may need 9 or 12 capsules a day –at which point, I would strongly recommend doing at least part—if not all– of this dosage in Royal Maca Powder (concentrate) form.

Since the optimal amount of DIM is 250 – 300 mg. daily, and since this amount is contained in 3 capsules, it is necessary for a postmenopausal woman with severe hot flashes to supplement her 3 caps daily of the Royal Maca Plus with 3 additional capsules of the regular Royal Maca Capsules—as a starting point.  Of course, if her symptoms are not 80% after 5 – 7 days, she would need to further increase her dosage of the regular Royal Maca.
