Q: Whole World Botanicals’ label says not to combine any form of estrogen with Royal Maca. Yet I’ve been using Vagi-Fem® estrogen suppositories (for vaginal dryness) for the last two months, combining them with 2 capsules of Royal Maca daily for my menopausal symptoms. This combination works great for me. But is there something I should know about this combo? Is it potentially dangerous? By the way, I had a hysterectomy nine years ago and was on HRT until recently.
A: Congratulations! Many women cannot combine even a very low dose form of estrogen with Royal Maca without getting side effects, such as increased hot flashes, insomnia, or anxiety. It is just too stimulating for them. If you feel good and have no side effects from combining estrogen with Royal Maca, then it’s a winning combination for you. It is not dangerous. It may be that the fact that you had a hysterectomy so many years ago has made your body less sensitive to using a very low dose estrogen along with your Royal Maca.
