 APRI-Minga
is a community-based human rights organization promoting women's empowerment
and gender equity in the Amazonia. APRI-Minga works with community leaders,
health workers and traditional healers to produce radio programs, training
materials and workshops which address human rights, income generation, self-esteem,
family violence, reproductive and preventive health and traditional medicine.
Our Mission is to assist Amazonian communities in their struggles against
environmental, social and economic injustice. APRI-Minga fosters a sense
of community investment in health, cultural integrity and sustainable
eco-system management.
 As part of our latest
efforts, we have launched Tambo Minga, a training and resource center
built in traditional thatch-roof style which serves as a central gathering
place for our health promoter and conservation training workshops. Located
on 10 acres of primary rainforest, Tambo Minga expands our agroforestry
and fisheries demonstration projects in the Amazon.
We are selling sets of greeting cards to support our efforts. The design
comes from an art competition APRI-Minga sponsored in local primary schools
along the rivers. The students painted pictures on the theme "The Importance
of Women in My Community." We were so inspired by the works we received
that we have transformed the winning submissions into limited-edition
greeting cards.
 You can support
us by promoting Amazonian creativity and empowerment. Proceeds from the
sale of the cards support Tambo Minga, our resource and training center
for community leaders and health workers in the Peruvian Amazon.
Card information: - available in sets of four full-color 5 x 7 cards
with envelopes - each card has informational text about APRI-Minga's activities
in the Peruvian Amazon, contact information, and lists the name and age
of the child artist on the back.
